Given away with The Funny Wonder dated 23 October 1920, this still shows Elmo Lincoln as Tarzan and Enid Markey as Jane in Tarzan of the Apes, directed for First National by Scott Sidney, and released in the U.S. in 1918. In all, Amalgamated Press’s biggest-selling comics, “The Big 4” as the publisher called them (Comic Cuts, Illustrated Chips, The Funny Wonder and Jester), gave away twelve of these “Grand Art Plates” in the autumn of 1920 to celebrate thirty years of Chips.
