Another fat-and-thin-tramp duo, and again, another wartime invention, Lazy Leonard and Lively Laurence were created in 1915 by G. M. Payne. Although not personally involved in the war effort, Laurence indicates his patriotism by wearing a tiny union jack in his hat.
