Postcard. Photo of Harold Lloyd. “Picturegoer” series. No. 32. London: 88 Long Acre. [c.1922].
From the first series of postcards given away with the British movie magazine Picturegoer. Beginning in 1917, Harold Lloyd regularly wore such round dark-rimmed glasses in his movies, without lenses, however, as they would potentially have caused camera glare. A hugely popular screen comedian at this time, Lloyd made around 200 movies between 1913 and 1938, the year his career effectively collapsed. See also H13.
