This issue characterises itself as “Our Grand Surprise Number”, the surprise being that the music-hall comedians have all been dropped, replaced by characters that presumably seemed more appropriate to a wider or younger reading audience. On page 1, “The Shirkwork Brothers” are back, drawn by Tom Radford, the full series running from 1910 to 1926. See F9 and F10, also F12 (same issue).
